9. ONCE UPON A TIME (3)

Jack et le haricot magique

Jack was quite scared so he ran to hide in the giant’s kitchen. He found a big jar and jumped into it. Suddenly he heard the giant’s footsteps on the stone floor of the kitchen. “Fee, fi,fo, fum, I smell the blood of a lttle man!” roared the giant. Jack trembled and shook in the jar. The giant looked all around the kitchen but didn’t find Jack.

Jack poked his head out of the jar and looked around the kitchen. He couldn’t see the giant so he escaped and hid under the chair. The giant returned: “Fee, fi, fo, fum, I smell the blood of a little man!” he roared again. Jack was desperate so he looked for a dfferent place to hide.

Finally Jack hid in the corner of the kitchen under a goose who was singing on some golden eggs. “Fee, fi, fo, fum, I smell the blood of a little man! And I’m going to eat him!” shouted the giant once more. Jack was now incredibly scared but the goose said (because it was, of course, a magic goose) “Don’t worry! I will help you escape!” So the goose took Jack in its beak and walked out of the kitchen, down the steps and flew into the clouds.

When they eventually arrived outside Jack’s grandma’s cottage, the goose didn’t want to return to the giant’s castle so it stayed with Jack and his Grandma. In the end, the goose continued to lay big golden eggs so Jack and his Grandma became very rich and lived happily ever after.
