MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

Murder on the Orient Express is one of the most popular detective novels by the Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie. A new film version with an all-star cast will allow you to discover the story and explore the iconic detective Hercule Poirot around this story in which everyone is a suspect.

Fifteen people are travelling from Istanbul to London in the First Class carriage of the prestigious Orient Express train. But the train is blocked by an avalanche and one of the passengers is murdered. The murderer must be in the carriage. Luckily one of the passengers is the famous detective Hercule Poirot.

The murder victim is an American, Edward Ratchett (Johnny Depp). He introduced himself to Hercule Poirot at the beginning of the journey and said someone was trying to kill him.

The other passengers seem very respectable and they are from many different countries. They have no connection to Ratchett. So why did someone violently murder him with a knife?

A Famous Detective

Hercule Poirot was one of Christie's most famous creations. He appears in 36 books.

He is Belgian but lives in London. He uses his difference as an advantage. He likes to wear very smart clothes and has a very flamboyant moustache. Like Sherlock Holmes, he is a private detective, not a policeman, and he solves crimes using his intelligence.

He needs all his intelligence to solve the mystery of the Orient Express while the train, the passengers and the murderer are blocked by the snow. He doesn’t want the assassin to escape before the train moves again.

Agatha Christie was one of the most popular detective story writers in the world and Murder on the Orient Express (1934) is one of her most popular books. A new film shows that her story is still intriguing, more than 80 years after she wrote it.
