Her Majesty The Queen was born on 21 April 1926. She was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, "The Queen Mother".
In 1936, when her grandfather, King George V died, her uncle came to the throne as King Edward VIII. Before the end of the year, King Edward VIII abdicated and Princess Elizabeth's father acceded to the throne as King George VI.
On the death of her father George VI in 1952, Princess Elizabeth became Queen at the age of 25.
The Queen is married to Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh and has four children and eight grandchildren.

Her Majesty The Queen celebrates two birthdays every year: her actual (=true) birthday on 21 April and her official birthday on a Saturday in June.
Princess Charlotte celebrates her first birthday

As the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge she is fourth in line to the British throne after her grandad Prince Charles, her dad Prince William and her brother Prince George.
The Princess' full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. She was named after her grandmother and great-grandmother The Queen.
