Diners at a restaurant in China will no longer have to deal with human errors from their waiters.
Inspired by the Bots cafe from the US hit shot Sam and Cat, a restaurant owner in China has created an eaterie filled with robots.
The cafe in Ningbo, a seaport city in northeastern China's Zhejiang province now has automated waiters who take orders and serve food to any table within the restaurant - and tell customers to enjoy their meal in Mandarin.
The machines navigate their way around with the use of an optical sensing system.
Although wages for the robots are non-existent, they still do not come cheap, costing at least £6,000 each. (wage = salary)
But with a five-year-warranty on each one, and the fact that they only need to be charged four-hours-a-day, the owner Lu Dike, 48, says that in the long-term it will save him a fortune in wages. (warranty = guarantee)
The machines are a popular draw at the restaurants, with diners wanting to experience being serviced by them. (draw = attraction)
They also have the capability to speak up to 40 phrases in Mandarin Chinese, such as 'enjoy your meal'.
Owner Mr Lu is being pressured to put the robots on sale for people to take home.
He said: 'I get asked at least once a day if I'm prepared to sell one of them.
'Who knows? Maybe it might be a good sideline.'
Customer Xu Yuan, 34, who is interested in purchasing a robot waiter said: 'I really like the service and I think I would really like one at home.
'My son has been pestering me ever since we came here for a snack after a trip to the movies.'
Lily’s Kitchen may not be the world’s first restaurant for dogs, but it’s certainly the coolest one right now. Dogs get to eat for free, have their bellies rubbed and can even listen to a nice story. What more could they ask for?
Lily’s Kitchen recently opened on Pimlico Road, in London’s upscale Belgravia neighborhood, and dog owners were quick to have their pooches (clebs) test out the menu, for free. That’s right, your four-legged friends get to sit at one of the restaurant’s three tables and fill up their bellies with organic food served by a waiter, and you don’t have to pay for it. It sounds to good to be true, but this is just a clever way a dog food company has found to promote their line of organic foods (organic = bio).
During the six week period Lily’s Kitchen is open, dogs will get the chance to be the stars, for a change, while their owners relax or take care of their daily chores. The dogs are served their favorite dishes in paper bowls, by waiters who actually love serving canines, because they never complain about the food, check or stuff like that. After they’ve filled their stomachs, dogs have a wide range of pleasant activities to enjoy. They can have their bellies rubbed, snooze on a comfy sofa, have their aches soothed by a holistic vet, or even enjoy a nice story, read to them by members of the restaurant staff.
While there are always those who complain this sort of things are just stupid, many London dog owners are already in love with Lily’s Kitchen. It offers them the chance to carry on with their daily activities, knowing their dear companion is well taken care of.
